Abyssal Land Bases, otherwise known as Installations, are enemies representing land-based military fortifications and facilities. While categorized as various different ship classes within the game, they have numerous differences from ordinary ships that grant them unique defensive strengths and weaknesses against shipborne weapons.

General Rules

  • Cannot be attacked by Torpedoes.
    • Note that submarine can attack them during the night regardless of equipment.
  • Torpedo value isn't taken into calculation when attacking them, except during 2013 Fall Event. When targeted, torpedo attacks (during Torpedo Phase or Night Battle) will not activate either.
  • Cannot be attacked by Carriers equipped with Dive Bomber, but Dive Bombers can target them during Opening Air Strikes.
  • Torpedo Bombers CAN attack them during Opening Air Strikes.[1]
    • However, the torpedo stat of Torpedo Bombers is not taken into calculation when attacking Installations.[2]
  • Equipping Type 3 Shell and WG42 (Wurfgerät 42) deals extra damage to Installations.
  • BBV and CV type Installations attack power is calculated in the same way as Carrier Type ships.
  • Special damage labels are shown when damaged:
Regular (ship) damage label Name in Japanese Land based damage label Name in Japanese
Slightly damaged (小破?) Confused (混乱?)
Moderately damaged (中破?) Damaged (損害?)
Heavily damaged (大破?) Broken (損壊?)
Sunken (撃沈?) Destroyed (破壊?)
  • All Installation Type Abyssals that carry bombers will not attack during Day Battle when Moderately Damaged, just like Carriers.
  • Installations also activate the second shelling phase, like battleships.
  • Submarines will be forced to attack Installation Type enemies during day battle shelling phase when equipped with certain equipment, such as the WG42.

According to the March 11 2016 Update Patch Notes, there are now different types of Installations, with different characteristics.

  • Takes an additional 75 damage from WG42, with diminishing returns for extras beyond the first.

Shells AP Shell 1.85x No Effect Separate from usual AP Shell bonus
T3 Shell 1.0x Pillboxes are not vulnerable to Type 3 Shells.
Seaplanes Seaplane Bombers 1.5× The bonus is effective even when the slot size is 0 or being completely shot down
Seaplane Fighters 1.5×
  • If more than one of the following bonus applies, then:
  • All the bonuses given above are calculated assuming that these are pre-cap bonuses, like the regular Type 3 Shell.

Artillery Imps are currently the only known Pillbox-type Abyssal Installation.
