  • Its been a long time since we talk, but ill want to clear this as a formal misunderstanding Put this way i may have forgotten that you were the one who created #offtopic channel instead of the #fanart in the wikiacord and i want to apologize for that. Most of the things CT said in his apology letter is correct as well and ive no doubts this is bound to happen in the first place.

im attempting to recover the damages caused by this incident and i would help if you could forgive about this misunderstanding incident

    • It indeed has been long. But I will keep this as brief as I can.

I know what has been going on.

First of all, I don’t want to be part of this.

I'm not the one who needs an apology at this point, the community does and rightfully deserves it from you. Based on what I have seen so far, you have betrayed their trust and should be making amends with them, not me. Apologize to the staff that you dismissed and simply attempted to replace. You should be representing and serving the public community and their trust, not be above them. Respect has to be earned, not demanded or extorted.

With rights comes responsibilities and duties. These go hand-in-hand. Do not misuse your privileges to carry out your duties by force when you are unwilling to be held responsible for them. You are to abide by the same rules that you impose upon others as well, do not ask them of things you yourself are not willing to do.

Because of that, I genuinely hope what you meant by “recovering the damages caused by this incident” does not mean further oppression of the community and users and punishing them for something that is not their fault. Actions speak louder than words, and I’ve seen plenty of your actions. Find that forgiveness from the people you wronged, not from me.

  • Hi McDerp,

It has been a while but first things first. I want to formally apologise for putting your name as being the creator of #fanart channel on KC wikia public discord. Later on after doing some research I found out that you were not the creator of that channel but created #offshore which is now #off-topic.

The reason why this topic was brought up was because of a heated discussion on exactly what to do with the said #fanart channel when for the last month or two I have been solely moderating the channel in a bid to prevent users from posting questionable contents of sorts notably including images/media that are NSFW when allegedly the creator of the channel which in this case is Shinhwalee and not you did state that they are to mind the channel many months ago.

As you are aware, we have had a channel inside the small Discord server for such activities that were shared amongst KC wikia staffers. This was removed when Discord did state that NSFW contents could amount to legal actions, etc. Basing on that experience it was evident that having #fanart on the public discord was ultimately a recipe for disaster as it proved itself leading up to actions amounted to the last few days.

With that in mind and the changes in the staff availability, it has become all too often that nobody took responsibility for moderating a channel that really needs to be heavily moderated and instead I took on that role because of otherwise Discord could impose sanctions of whatever they may see fit. Since then my morale on users' ability to read, understand and thus accept the rules of what are allowed and what are not allowed has eroded to the point that I was blinded into wanting to throw around insults, particularly when needing to decide on both the history of the said channel and the channel's fate. During the heated discussion, your name, was to my personal opinion brought up accidentally when a name was to be put up for blame. Again I reiterate that I did (at the time) casually apologised after looking back through the chat logs to see that you were indeed not the creator of the channel and have said, "my bad" as part of casual apology. This message will be part of my own formal apology to reflect on the actions of what had happened.

I am unsure if you are aware of this story that is happening behind your back but in either case I wanted to bring you up to date and to formally apologise in writing for initially assuming you are in charge of creating that channel. Henceforth, I will let you decide on the outcome of this apology and kindly look forward to your response.

    • Considering the actions and words of these clowns that mod the Discord group, I have left the Discord too. I doubt that they actually care about people leaving though as they were even indifferent about other mods leaving.

If it were not for incompetent, childish most acting only in their self-interest for that Discord Nitro, this whole debacle would not have happened. Instead of maturely handling the issue of nsfw pics being posted in the fanart channel, the whole situation had to be blown out in a sudden outrage. In an attempt to protect their own interests the blame was put on others, anyone but themselves. However they dug a deeper grave for themselves instead.

Blaming the community as a whole is such a low move. Without the community you would've been a nobody here.

As for the other clown he should be stripped off of his Discord Nitro as he clearly doesn't deserve it since he cannot assume the responsibility of being a server admin in a community of this size.

In light of this debacle it's only natural that the Discord is removed from the frontpage of the Wikia. Good riddance.

    • I heard about this juicy fiasco through the grapevine (read: Discord server with wikia acquaintances). Can't believe you guys are blaming Sai after piggybacking off his management for so long. I just had to get into this, both as retired staff and as a friend of Sai.

The creator of the channel in question should never have been an issue. The channel was created and then allowed to continue existing by the management. This implicit allowance already means that all of the staff currently on the team have responsibility for moderating that channel. If they had an issue, the channel should have been closed. Kind of like how it was just recently...after the problem had already blown up. The fact that this could even come up as an issue so much later shows that you never had an explicit rule regarding this. To add one at this point can only mean that you made it up on the spot specifically to shift the blame.

Speaking of your policies, it's obvious the moderation team is above any such trifling matter: there are no guidelines that can be inferred from your handling of the situation. It's being all made up on the fly. Of all evidence presented, none support you and none have been offered by you. That's a good way to make a case. I guess there's not really much evidence you can use to support yourself when none exists.

On that note about evidence, it's truly heartening to see such a textbook case of covering one's ass. You say that the server owner should not be blamed, but I say he should. Here are some points:

      • User:jasperchua99 is just a normal moderator. Why is he suddenly server owner of a partnered server in the wikia's name? The logic behind that is truly baffling. You won't even trust him to be an admin but you trust him to run a server representing you, perhaps even more strongly than the wikia itself.
      • He is the server owner. You can skip around it all you want and fake that he's just another person that happens to be the owner but he's making unilateral decisions as evidenced by the responses given in screenshots. If a person makes a decision, it's his responsibility.
      • The server owner is the rule maker. Say all you want about joint opinion, the truth of the matter is that he gets the last word on everything. The lack of structure, policies, unambiguity and responsibility are all clear indicators that he is severely lacking as a leader.
      • He specifically said he was going to delete evidence (https://i.imgur.com/CDF0MZ8.png). That's definitely responsible and what I look for in a leader.
      • He doesn't actually care about the community. The server lost a lot of moderators all at once to this and his responses all fall into the range of "apathetic". Tell me that's a good attitude for somebody in a position of responsibility to have.
      • He literally just wants Nitro. You made a few mentions of benefits that Discord offers partnered servers. I popped into your server and there was nobody in voice, which would be the only thing that could be considered outside of just "nice to have". You don't need that partner status and you're only holding on to it because $10 and a few free games is worth moral integrity. Just have the balls to actually come out and say it rather than dance around. Before you make any points against this, just remember that you have to apply to get that status so somebody did it for benefits and nothing you wrote necessitates it.

Let's get back to you then. You try to make a point about being the only one policing #fanart. Does this not speak management crisis to you? If it's actually true, then you just knowingly decided that you alone were enough for the job and didn't need to ask for help. Your server owner just casually threw out a mod recruiting drive recently. You could have easily done that before things got to this point. Perhaps you don't actually care and you just need to take this position right now to make yourself look good to the community...or something like that? Just as a note, you can try to cite staff availability changing as a reason but with how fast that mod recruitment drive came out, it could only be for like a week.

You attempted to place the blame on somebody by name because they weren't around. Then the second you find out that, not only were you wrong, but they were also still in staff, you turned around and advocated against a "name-and-blame game" despite being the one who ran with it first and foremost. With nobody left to single out and blame, you were left with no choice but to frame the community for the faults that you are supposed to fix. Your post in this thread even leaks that you feel the community is stupid as a whole. This is not how you should be addressing the problem.

In terms of addressing the problem, you actually didn't even offer a solution in any of your posts. The entirety of both major posts (this one and https://i.imgur.com/rs8Dpqd.png) are geared towards shifting blame off yourself and the server owner. If this were a sincere response, at the very least, the apology should have come first. The fact that it was not is a clear indication that it was simply an afterthought to make it so you appear to regret your actions.

To close, is this an attack? Hell yes, it is. The entire situation here is amazingly stupid. It speaks volumes to the quality of the moderation team, both as moderators and as human beings. If this post is gone later, then I guess you just had to prove me right.

tl;dr: Terrible management. Horribly disguised, long-running scapegoating. Pretending the server owner deserves his position. Attempting to shift blame from self to community. Not cool, guys.

  • Hey, Its Buck and I ended up coming here because I should learn how to resourceful in my hellish grind to get all my waifus.

    • Hello,

Uhh, well. You should start with Expeditions in order to gather resources at these earlier stages. It is imperative that you are able to maintain your base's resource consumption (sortieing, repairing, crafting new ships) and over it in order to have some leeway if you encounter a bump in the road and such. An army marches on its stomach and all that stuff. The strongest weapon is useless if it is unable to fight because of resource shortage.

Here is a more simplified list with all the vital information such as resource yields and ship requirements for each expedition. I still advise you to read the entire expedition page to get a more complete image, haste makes waste and you might be in a hurry to get into the action, but patience will save you a lot of disappointment down the long road.

Therefore, stockpiling resources is key, preferably in knowledge as well. Always try and match your resource consumption with your stockpiling. Often times you will have to go over it, but it should not be a norm at all times. Events or anything that involves capital ships like BBs or CVs is always hard on your resources, but it is necessary, otherwise you just come back to repair ships that were too weak. That is why you have to stockpile resources.

Pertaining to the topic of repairs, which is as imperative as resources too: Buckets. The green buckets in the expedition rewards are fundamental during events, since it allows you to repair your ships instantly, rather than waiting for a 12h timer to run out before you can get back in the action. Events are limited-time and thus your strongest enemy is a race against time. Stockpile those instant-repair buckets as much as you can and try to never have to use them outside of events, until you have a big stockpile of them too.

      Kind regards, -McDerp

    • Hello again Batoenisan,

It seems that Fujihita and I have come to an agreement and postpone further applicants till the next drill, as we currently have our hands full with the first batch of trainees. Since they have no peers or predecessors we have decided that they will be taught to be your seniors in the upcoming drills.

I am very sorry that you had to wait this long only to be rejected. But fear not, there are at least two additional drills coming up after this first one. Please stay tuned in on the Wikia Discussions board once the first one is over. :)

If you could, we'd at least like you to have an actual registered account with a contribution history that we can track. Unregistered or newly registered users will be unable to edit any of the wikia's pages during the events as part of our efforts to combat misinformation and vandalism.
