CharacterEdit

Anime yamato

Appearance Edit

  • Depicted as having long brown hair in a ponytail and a bit of hime cut with multiple cherry blossoms ornament in her hair, and often carrying an oriental umbrella with a shaft based on the battleship's distinctive mast in her right hand, her eye colored is purple. She is seen holding three AP shells and wearing an armband that references the maritime signal flag for letter "Z". The head gear that she wears is the radar on her bridge with a little ornament on the left side. On her neck she wears an iron collar with an Imperial Chrysanthemum Seal on it. She appears to wear what appears to be a string panties with anchors on it that stick out from the hip vents on each side. She wears a single thighhigh, which, with her first remodel, bears the slogan that her admiral posted for the suicidal Operation Ten-Go. She has six armor-piercing cartridges on her thighs; three on the left strapped to metal garter straps on her thighhigh and another three attached to her bare thigh. When reach medium damage she also has what appears to be two hollowed out AP shells with character "九一" (91) on it that cover her breasts, which are in turn covered by her clothes. These are either some sort of strapless bra, compact strapless muneate or breast pads, the AP shells become a common joke in many fan art either that she is just want to padding her breast or she just wants to hide her breast size, depending on the artist. She wears high-heels with rudders acting as heels.
  • Her combat gear design seems to be a large "split hull" design with the smoke stack behind her back with three 46 cm triple gun mounts attached to it, with two next to her shoulder and one behind the smoke stack while two secondary 15.5 cm triple secondary gun are attached to the sides of the hull and two more are attached on the hull. After her remodeling, the 15.5cm triple gun mounts on the side of her hull are replaced by three 12.7 cm twin high angle gun mounts on each side of her hull to improve her anti-aircraft armaments.
  • Her mid-summer CG shows her wearing a white-red bikini in contrast to her normal clothes and a red-transparent white towel-like garment with a black line and red stitch on it in contrast to her normal skirt. She also wearing thigh strap with lifebuoy that has hiragana ”とまや” as seen in her calendar and wears red sandals with a white line on top of it with the imperial chrysanthemum seal in the middle.

Personality Edit

  • Because her historical counterpart had a career mostly based around impressing people, Yamato is often depicted as a shy ( which also mention by her sister Musashi in hourly notification ) and soft-spoken housewife, she also has tendency to speak in first person in very polite/honorific manner. While in the official 4-koma manga chapter 21 Fubuki mentioned Yamato as typical "Classical Japanese Beauty" or "Yamato Nadeshiko".
  • She is considered as a good cook that is mentioned in both her hourly notification and in the anime since this is a reference to her luxurious condition for the reason that she is used as meeting place for high-level officers. One of this luxurious condition is the full course meal.
  • She dislikes being a hotel that is shown both in her line and anime as she felt that she was not fulfilling her duty as a kanmusu for the reason as stated below.
  • While this is not shown in her line game, in the anime Yamato is shown having a huge appetite that she eats more than Akagi for the reason that having a short sortie with Fubuki in episode 8 ( this may reference to her fuel consumption ).
  • Yamato catchphrase: " Hotel, you say ? N-no you're wrong !" that use as joke about her being compare to hotel, probably also use as title for anime episode 8 with slight difference " I'm not a Hotel ! "

TriviaEdit

  • 2013 August event special map E-4 completion reward.
  • Required 2.5 times more fuel compared to Nagato class battleships.
  • Was cynically referred as "Yamato Hotel", a hotel located in Dalian China during WWII time, as she never took part in any surface action excepted the battle off Samar during Leyte, against the escort fleet Taffy 3, due to her high consumption and her status as the IJN's flagship. Referred as the same in-game for the same reason.
Sock

'Hirihoukenten' sock

  • Yamato's remodel art features a 'Hirihoukenten (非理法権天)' kneesock (originally a flag). It reflects one of the old philosophies in feudal Japan where foolishness (非) is not above sensibility (理), sensibility is not above law (法), law is not above authority (権), and authority is not above divinity (天). As emperors were treated as divine figures in imperial Japan, it means to imply "no men can oppose the (divine) emperor". As a slogan adopted by the Imperial Japanese navy, this flag was hung on Yamato on her final voyage towards Okinawa.
  • Sunk on 7 April 1945 north of Okinawa (at 30° 22′ 0″ N, 128° 4′ 0″ E) in the famed Operation Ten-Go, along with Yahagi, Isokaze, Kasumi, Hamakaze and Asashimo. Under command of Vice-Admiral Seiichi Ito
  • Her damaged art is based on the historical damage dealt to her during Operation Ten-Go; As the Americans learned from sinking Musashi that it's better to focus torpedo attacks on a single side of the target ship, in order to cause her to capsize. In Yamato's case, that would be on the port (left) side of her.
  • Wreck discovered under 1,120 ft of water in the East China Sea, 180 miles Southwest of Kyushu and North of Okinawa, on August 1st, 1985.
  • She wears an Armband that resembles the Maritime signal Flag for the letter "Z; the Z flag played a major role in Japanese Naval History. On May 27 1905, Admiral Heihachirō Tōgō raised the Z flag on his flagship, the IJN Mikasa, before the start of the Battle of Tsushima. The Z flag was also raised on the Akagi on the eve of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. The flag raising signifies the following: "The fate of Imperial Japan hangs on this one battle; all hands will exert themselves and do their best."
  • This is named after the ancient, Japanese Yamato Province.
  • Was the Flagship of the IJN combined fleet under Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku
  • Yamato's summer CG mostly breaks fan theories about how Yamato uses her AP Shell to pad her breast since her swimsuit shows that Yamato has very large breasts even without her AP Shell but seems a bit shy to show them to her admiral. She is seen holding ramune bottles as this is a reference to how Yamato and Musashi had vending machines that dispensed ice cream and ramune on board. As an extension, her normal CG Pose where Yamato holding one of the bottles is deemed a bit "suggestive" by some fans since the bottle is rather close to her cleavage; some find this rather surprising that this coming from a polite character but Yamato seems oblivious about it.
